Aero, MAXI-LIGHTWIND-VERSATILE MACHINE
Wind magazine, France
October/November 2005
Here is a tasty proposal from shapers Tiesda You and Per Andersson: two
shapes ultra compac and ultra versatile for sailing in light to medium winds, on
either flat waters or waves! Available in 117 litres or 127 litres like the board we
have on test, both are barely 235cm long! 71cm and 74cm are the widths which
will give plenty of static stability, even for the most heavyweights. Two fins are
supplied with these crossover boards, one is more upright and deeper for freeriding
and flat water, the other is shorter and more curved for maneuvers and wave riding.
On flat water, we are charmed by the efficiency of this round board. It gets going
very quickly on to the plane, with the ability to take big sails (bigger than 8.5 no
problem), revealing performance levels we would never have suspected - even
against its more sporty models!
But it is in the maneuvers that this 73.3cm wide baby shows its most innovative
side. We jump so nicely on the slightest chop (excellent pop and impulse) and
the jibes are just so sharp with such an immediate spring out of the turn it
reminds us of the good times we had at indoor events!
Plus points: Versatility flat water to waves, maneuverability, finishing quality
Minus points: A bit hard on the feet on long cruises
